FacilityQ is developing an AI-driven workflow for utilizing machine-readable building data in facility management. This process merges structured data from BIM models with operational documents and technical metadata. A core element is a phase- and role-based data model that maps operationally relevant information, including document links, and enables automated assignment to operational classes and cost groups. Additionally, AI methods are deployed for the classification and compliant assignment of documents. Implementation is carried out via a plugin-free microservice architecture for seamless integration into existing Common Data Environments (CDE).

TGAconnect is developing a standardized data model based on openBIM for the digitalization of Technical Building Equipment (MEP / Technische Gebäudeausrüstung - TGA) across the entire building lifecycle. The focus lies on defining specific BIM use cases and standardizing BIM properties to enhance interoperability between different disciplines and trades. This enables machine-readable data exchange, reducing planning and operational costs while increasing efficiency and quality in design, execution, and operations.

The PIONEER project BIMEcoLogic links Building Information Modeling with sustainable construction requirements and transparent reporting standards. For this purpose, a flexible and extensible data model is being developed to structurally map sustainability characteristics and their evaluation criteria. Furthermore, connection to external material and product databases is enabled to integrate product-related sustainability data. The goal is to systematically incorporate sustainability aspects into digital construction processes, creating a foundation for resource-efficient construction.

The project "IEA EBC Annex 91 – Open BIM for Energy-Efficient Buildings" addresses existing hurdles in BIM application and develops foundations for a stronger integration of energy efficiency into openBIM processes. The aim is to anchor evaluation and optimization processes for energy-efficient construction directly within BIM workflows, while simultaneously improving accessibility for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The outcomes notably include recommendations for the further development and harmonization of BIM libraries, data models, and modeling guidelines, as well as training materials.

AIA4ALL is developing a platform for open, modular, and automated Employer's Information Requirements (EIR / Austausch-Informations-Anforderungen - AIA) as well as BIM Execution Plans (BEP / BIM-Abwicklungspläne - BAP). These elements form the foundation for comprehensive digitalization in the construction industry by standardizing and automating information exchange and quality assurance in construction projects. The developed platform supports the creation and use of machine-readable EIRs and BEPs. It enables the generation of BIM properties, validation rules, and documentation in order to verify requirements in a largely automated manner. Various exemplary use cases, such as cost estimation, heating/cooling load calculation, technical monitoring, and thermal simulation, are being developed and tested.

The objective is to provide low-threshold access to standardized data, sustainably strengthening the digitalization of the Austrian construction sector.

BIM2KALK 2 focuses on the definition and standardization of BIM parameters for the Austrian construction industry, with a particular emphasis on cost estimation. The goal is to establish a consistent and continuous database that enables automated and precise cost derivation directly from BIM models. This streamlines planning and estimation processes while reducing media disruptions (data gaps).
